Temuera Morrison MNZM, who was born on December 26, 1960, is an actor from New Zealand who rose to prominence in New Zealand for playing Dr. Hone Ropata on the soap opera Shortland Street. He garnered critical acclaim for starring as Jake The Muss Heke in the 1994 film Once Were Warriors and its 1999 sequel What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?. Outside of New Zealand, Morrison is best known for his work in the Star Wars multimedia franchise, notably as Jango Fett and his clone offspring, including Boba Fett and the clone troopers. He debuted as Jango Fett in the 2002 Star Wars movie Attack of the Clones. His portrayal of Boba Fett includes voicing the character in the 2004 re-release of The Empire Strikes Back, various video games, and fully playing Boba in The Mandalorian (2019–present) and The Book of Boba Fett (2021–2022). The black ops thriller Echo 3 featured Morrison in a recurring role in 2022. He provided the voice for Chief Tui, Moana's father, in the Disney film Moana (2016), as well as portraying Tom Curry, Arthur Curry's father, in DCEU films such as Aquaman (2018), The Flash (2023), and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). Early life Born in Rotorua on 26 December 1960, Morrison hails from the North Island of New Zealand. He is the son of Hana Morrison (née Stafford) and musician Laurie Morrison. Morrison's heritage includes Māori whakapapa of Te Arawa (Ngāti Whakaue) and Tainui (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Rarua), along with Scottish and Irish ancestry. His sister was performer Taini Morrison and his uncle was musician Sir Howard Morrison. Morrison completed his secondary schooling at Wesley College (Auckland) and Western Heights High School (Rotorua).
